I’m Jess, the face of Minimise with Me. I’m a movie and music loving introvert from Sydney Australia who lives in my humble abode with my husband, working as an Accountant by day, and singing and playing bass in my band by night.
A couple of years ago I found myself questioning where I was in my life and wasn’t quite sure why I was feeling so dissatisfied. After accomplishing many goals I’d set for myself over my 20s that I thought would bring me happiness and a sense of accomplishment, I came to the realisation something was amiss. I realised I was anxious, stressed more often than not, feeling overwhelmed by my increasingly busy schedule and just didn’t know where to go from there. I started asking myself things like what was my next goal, what was I passionate about? What brought me joy? What didn’t? Could everyday be great without having to live for the weekend? Through my research (and at the time you might say somewhat mindless scrolling), I stumbled upon the minimalist lifestyle and became intrigued with the benefits of living a life with less excess and the importance of making each day as amazing as it could be. I’d never been an overly materialistic person but did have more than enough stuff and felt deeply connected to the idea of creating a life full of experiences rather than material possessions.
I have been working ever since to create a more intentional life that brings me fulfillment each day. Over the past couple of years I have been striving to minimise the excess in my life, whether that be getting rid of the clutter in our home environment, learning to not overload our schedules or just finding a suitable balance across all areas of our lives. I aim to regularly assess what is important to me and what it is that makes me happy, and I keep it these things at the forefront of my mind to make them a priority.
In learning so much about this new lifestyle on my journey, I became aware that I had developed an intense desire to help other people to do the same. I wanted to share my experiences, the things that I had found value in to others in the hope that they might also find value in them to benefit their lives. I am passionate about living a more intentional life, whether that be through minimalism, reducing clutter or debt, spending more time doing things I find enjoyable and cultivating a life that is what we want for ourselves rather than what others expect of us.
I would love to have you along for this journey. Let’s minimise the excess so the essential can shine through!
